West Lafayettes downtown may soon look a little different. The Tippecanoe Area Plan Commission approved a rezoning request that makes way for a five story apartment and retail complex. The building will be on the corner of State Street next to Brothers Bar. Purdue Student Body President Joe Rust says the project is a positive for the area. This year our administration in student government will be pushing for a lot of campus development so students have more options, whether that be for living, or food, and night life as well. he said. I believe this option is a great opportunity for students for all of those. The project includes 24 apartments and a CVS pharmacy. However, it would displace the Where Else Bar which informed the commission it would not return to the site if the project moves forward. Instead, a full service restaurant would be placed in the complexs basement. Area business owner Tom Arth says this type of project is too large for the area. The project overdevelops the
